Public Relations Event Aims to Raise Japanese Utilization of U.S. Soybean Oil

USSEC Japan cooperated with the Japan Oilseed Processors Association (JOPA) to stage a public relations event to revitalize demand and improve the image of soybean oil in Japan.
The event and related promotional activities were requested by JOPA during the 2016 and 2017 Japan – USA Partnership Team roundtable meetings. During the public relations event, messages regarding the healthy aspects and functionality of soybean oil produced from U.S. soybeans were conveyed.
Paul Burke, USSEC Regional Director – North Asia Regional Director clearly emphasized that the goal of the collaboration between JOPA and USSEC was for the Japanese industry to increase its utilization of U.S. soybean oil. He also indicated that due to current trade issues in China, the U.S. soybean industry wants to increase its market share in Japan from 70 percent to more than 90 percent.
