MENA Fish Producers, Aquaculturists Participate in USSEC’s Aqua Pond Nutrition, Health & Biosecurity Webinar

65 leading fish producers and aquaculturists from the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region participated in a USSEC webinar focusing on aqua pond nutrition, health, and biosecurity on August 30 and 31.

Participants listened to presentations on topics including “Modern Trends in Fish Health: Disease Diagnosis, Identification and Prevention Methods, Fish Feeding & Formulation of Stress Resistance Diets and Other Special Diets,” “The Role of Fish Nutrition & Feed for Maintaining Good Fish Health,” and “Practical Fish Feeding, Management and Practices.” Mohamed E. Marzouk, Prof. of Fish Health, Department of Fish Diseases and Management, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Cairo University; Alaa Eissa, D.V.M., Professor and Chair of the Department of Fish Diseases and Management, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University; Abdel Hamid Eid, Prof. of Fish Nutrition, Suez Canal University; and Ashraf Gouda, Professor of Fish Nutrition-Aquaculture Division - National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) were featured speakers.

On the second day of the virtual conference, a general discussion was held on how the Egyptian aquaculture sector was affected by COVID-19 and USSEC can help in its recovery.

A roundtable discussion followed the two-day conference.
