Dr. Mona Mehrez, Vice Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Poultry, and Fisheries Affairs and the American Ambassador in Cairo, Thomas Goldberger, today conducted the opening of the Training Soy Excellence Center in Abbassa (Egypt) for the Middle East and North Africa region at WorldFish in the presence of the Poultry Association Chairman, the CEO of the U.S. Soybean Export Council, and the regional Director of WorldFish in Egypt and Nigeria.
Egypt was chosen because it is the most important market for using soybeans for food, oil, and feed manufacturing, and soybeans are an essential ingredient for the production of poultry, fish, and dairy feed.
The center has started to carry out its missions through theoretical and practical training, using modern methods to increase fish production, with verifying the safety of products in the aquaculture sector as well as the poultry sector. The first training program was organized at the center for 30 participants in the field of aquaculture from Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, and Algeria.
The center, in cooperation with the Poultry Association, Ministry of Agriculture, and Cairo University, will organize training courses for veterinarians and workers in the field of poultry production farms to learn about farm management and practical training on poultry breeding and the quality of feed used in each sector and biosecurity procedures.
