Turkish Biosecurity Council Approves Corn and Soy GMO Traits

The Turkish Biosecurity Council approved one corn and three soy GMO traits on August 1. This delay had caused a bottleneck for soybean imports from the U.S. The Turkish Biosecurity Council has now given final approval for 10 soy and 26 Corn GMO traits. Several of these now-approved traits had been problematic and could have caused an extensive drop in U.S. exports to Turkey in the new harvesting year.
Turkish poultry industry and traders expended great effort in this matter and communicated closely with the Turkish Biosecurity Council. USSEC also supported this effort by supplying key information to the Turkish poultry industry throughout their communications with the biosecurity council.
