USSEC’s “Soybean Meal Quality by Origin: Economic Value of Hipro Soybean Meal in Least Cost Formulations” is now available. This report, written by Dr. Jannes Doppenberg of Schothorst Feed Research, shows the added value of higher quality soybean meal by origin for different regions based on current feedstuff prices in feeds for swine, layers and/or broilers and studies the added value of higher quality soybean meal in feeds for different species with feedstuffs and prices for four regions: the Netherlands (indicative for Northwestern Europe), Spain (indicative for Southwestern Europe), Poland (indicative for Northeastern Europe) and Romania (indicative for Southeastern Europe). Although soybean meal is sold on a per unit of protein basis, differences in digestible energy and amino acid content contribute more to the value of soybean meal. On an equal protein content basis, the value differences (in energy, mineral and digestible amino acid content) of U.S. soybean meal over meal from other origins is €6.30-20.90 ($8.60-28.52 USD) for the U.S. vs. Brazil and €8.20-22.10 ($11.19-30.15 USD) for the U.S. vs. Argentina.
The report is primarily aimed at USSEC’s customers in the feed and animal feed industry in the European Union.
