The U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) is meeting farmers where they are through this year’s online Commodity Classic. The conference features a convention and trade show of the U.S. soybean, corn, wheat, sorghum and equipment manufacturer industries. The 2021 event is going virtual March 2-5. New technology and research have uncovered the unique nutritional composition of U.S. Soy. USSEC is giving an exclusive look at how it is using these findings to change buyer habits during its press conference on March 2.

Focusing on changing the soy paradigm to increase global livestock production efficiency and sustainability, CEO Jim Sutter will highlight the work USSEC is doing to change how buyers evaluate soy. Mac Marshall, United Soybean Board and USSEC Vice President of Market Intelligence, will also provide a macro-economic perspective into global livestock trends and what that means for demand.

Attendees can dive even deeper into the value of U.S. Soy at USSEC’s listening center session. Traditionally, buyers have evaluated soy on one metric: crude protein. However, the newest research shows that crude protein is not the best indicator for meeting the nutritional needs of animals and aquaculture. Other factors such as quality and the amino acid profile impact the palatability, digestibility and overall energy value derived from soy.

USSEC is working to change how buyers look at soy based on these findings. One of the newest tools to help them do this is the Soy Nutrient Value Calculator (NVC). A real-time demo of the NVC, along with an in-depth description of its impact, will be featured.
