USSEC - Turkey Conducts 3rd Annual Fish Nutrition Short Course in Spain

USSEC – Turkey conducted its third annual fish nutrition short course from June 12 - 17 in Nutrigenomics and Fish Growth Endocrinology Group (http://www.nutrigroup-iats.org), Institute of Aquaculture Torre la Sal, IATS-CSIC, Castellón, Spain.
Sırrı Kayhan, USSEC Country Representative – Turkey, Dr. Jaume Pérez-Sánchez (Director CSIC) and Dr. Sadasivam Kaushik (INRA) led the short course.
Participants, speakers, and presentation topics were carefully selected for the success of the course. Eleven aquaculture nutritionists and experts from universities in different parts of Europe who had previously worked together in many aquaculture research projects in EU made presentations during the short course.
Presentations were based on the latest research conducted in the EU for sea bass, sea bream, and trout species. Most of the presentations focused on how to utilize plant proteins, stressing U.S. Soy products, to reduce the amount of fishmeal and fish oil in the feeds of these species, and how to maximize the value of feed ingredients in a very competitive environment.
The Turkish fish feed industry was 100 percent represented during the short course.
