U.S. Soybean Growers Provide Support to Colombian Swine Producers Association

U.S. soybean growers are continuing to provide support to the Colombian Swine Producers Association (PorkColombia).
USSEC consultant – Americas Julio Chaves visited Colombia from October 8 – 14. Mr. Chaves traveled to Medellin, Cali, and Bogota to lecture about the benefits of heavier, leaner pigs over light ones and to lead a deboning workshop demonstrating what was taught during the lecture. Two different audiences attended the one-day event in Medellin.
Participants heard about the benefits of the expected lean yield equation that PorkColombia developed for three different instruments and the economic benefits.
During the lecture, Mr. Chaves talked about the benefits of a well-balanced diet for pigs and the importance of U.S. soybeans in it due to a better quality in the protein profile for animals. Attendees also learned about the efforts that U.S. soybean growers put into a sustainable crop and lending support to events such as the one they were attending.
Around 80 people participated in this event, which provided a good opportunity to disseminate U.S. soybean growers voices’ on different aspects of soybean growing and sustainability.
