New Generation of Southeast Asia Nutritionists and Industry Professionals Attends Fundamentals of Animal Nutrition and Feed Formulation Workshops

USSEC organized a series of three technical workshops from September 12 to 21, starting in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, to Bangkok, Thailand, ending in Yangon, Myanmar. These workshops are designed specifically for post graduates in animal nutrition as well as newly minted nutritionists and industry professionals.
The workshop curriculum provided the target audiences with knowledge and information that is pertinent and current to commercial feed production practices. Through the presentations and using feed formulation software, participants learned how to value soybean meal based on its metabolizable energy and digestible amino acid as opposed to crude protein values which showed U.S. soybean meal as the better choice in overall value. The workshops were well received and was attended by over 180 participants in total. Some of the topics covered include Important Role of Nutritionists in the Feed Industry; Basic Animal Nutrition: Raw Material Classification, Nutrient Requirement, and Recommendations for Poultry and Swine Diets; ‘Full Fat Soybean Meal Production and Utilization; Soybean Meal Quality According to Origin - Advantages of using U.S. Soybean and Soybean Meal; and Basic and Advanced Feed Formulation: Total Nutrient Values vs Digestible Nutrient Values.
