Taking advantage of the presence of delegates representing U.S Soy and U.S agriculture from USSEC, the American Soybean Association (ASA), the United Soybean Board (USB) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), India’s USSEC team celebrated the organization’s 10th anniversary in India.
After concluding the Soy Partnership Summit (SPS) that was held in Indore on July 24, Scott Sindelar (Minister Counselor, USDA/FAS, New Delhi), ASA director Bret Davis and USB director C.D. Simmons cut an anniversary cake marking USSEC’s decade-long presence in India. Drew Klein, USSEC Director International Program Strategy & Research/Regional Director – ASC, Pam Helmsing, USSEC Marketing Director – Animal Nutrition/Meal, and USSEC consultant Paul Smolen, who served as resource experts at SPS 2015, joined them.
Through USSEC’s presence in India for the past ten years, the U.S Soy industry has derived indirect marketing benefits due to increased domestic utilization. Soy meal volume contained in India has spared soy markets in regions where India typically exported soy meal. It is also believed that this long-term presence has laid the groundwork for the organization to examine and move forward market development efforts that should eventually prepare the region for U.S Soy imports.
