USSEC Participates in APEC Exhibition on Food Technology, Facility and Resources in China

USSEC was invited by China’s State Administration of Grain (SAG) as a special food security contributor to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Exhibition on Food Technology, Facility and Resources during the high level conference of the APEC Policy Partnership for Food Security (APEC-PPFS) in Beijing.
The exhibition, which took place from August 14-16, served as a platform for industry associations, enterprises and government agencies of 21 APEC economies to demonstrate food production and processing technology, grain handling facility and grain production and trade resources. The exhibitors include the State Administration of Grain, COFCO Group, Yihai Kerry Group and Sinograin Group from China, ADM from the U.S. and other entities from New Zealand, Japan, Peru, Malaysia, among others.
During the three day exhibition, the USSEC booth attracted many visitors from all of the APEC economies, especially engaging many Chinese visitors who are concerned about biotech soybean production and its safety in the world. USSEC staff provided facts about the benefits of biotech soybeans to producers, consumers, and the environment. In particular, USSEC promoted the U.S. soybean industry as the sustainable supplier of quality soybeans to feed the world, including China. Many industry contacts expressed their appreciation of the U.S. soy industry’s long term contributions to China’s food security.
SAG Administrator Ren Zhengxiao, Deputy Administrator Zeng Liying and other high ranking officials from the Chinese administration visited the USSEC booth and were better informed of USSEC’s programs in China and spoke highly of what USSEC has done in providing technical and trade services to the Chinese grain and oilseed sector over the past 32 years.
USSEC China Country Director Zhang Xiaoping, Market Program Assistant Zeng Yantian and Executive Assistant Liu Wenjuan participated in the exhibition and assisted booth visitors.
