USSEC Meets with Bangladeshi Soy Industry Representatives

USSEC recently hosted a U.S. State Department meeting with Bangladeshi industry and government officials involved in soy-related issues. USSEC Technical Issues Director Kim Nill, USSEC FTO contractor Tom Redick, World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) representative Alan Poock and USSEC summer intern Elizabeth McLeod attended the meeting and presented on environmental and economic benefits of biotech soybeans, regulatory aspects of biotech crops, the high nutritional quality of U.S.-origin soy, and how WISHH will soon be working in Bangladesh. Participants in the meeting reported that Bangladesh will soon approve planting of insect-resistant brinjal (eggplant), which was developed in Bangladesh.
