USSEC Korea Continues to Promote the Benefits of Soy in Aquaculture

USSEC conducted meetings with target flounder growers that use extruded feed in Jeju and Gyeongsangbuk-do, Korea.  The objective of these talks was to remind growers of the benefits of soy in terms of feeding costs, sustainable supply and consistency in quality as delivered through on-site visits and support.

USSEC has continued its education of target groups to create and increase demand of soybean meal and soy protein concentrate in the Korean aquaculture sector.  The results of feeding studies conducted by the United Soybean Board (USB) provided the main tool for USSEC to suggest the optimum inclusion rates of soybean meal and soy protein concentrate in extruded feed.  More flounder growers are expected to change their feed from fish-based moist pellet feed to protein meal-based extruded feed due to the Korean government’s policy to encourage the use of extruded feed.  USSEC’s long-term plan creates and increases the demand of soybean meal and soy protein concentrate in the Korean aquaculture sector by increasing target groups’ knowledge of the benefits of soy protein over fish meal.
