USSEC conducted an aqua nutrition & feedmill workshop, themed “Maximizing Feed Ingredients for Cost-Effective Aqua Feed Formulations” on May 28. The objective of the seminar was to provide information and techniques to aquaculture feedmillers, nutritionists, and plant managers on how to maximize feed ingredients for producing and formulating cost-effective aquafeed formulations during periods of high ingredient prices.
USSEC Feedmill and Aquafeed Nutrition consultant Mark Newman discussed how to maximize feed ingredients for cost-effective aquafeed formulations in production, formulating aquaculture feeds, how to optimize economic return from aquaculture feeds with proper feeding management and understanding the fish growth rate in relation to feeding levels and feed conversion ratio, in his presentations, “Optimizing Formulation and Manufacturing Methods to Control Costs of Aquafeeds” and “Feed Management for Higher Economic Return.” The program also included U.S. Grains Council (USGC) Technical Director Adie Morales discussing “CGM Use in Aquaculture Feeds” and Jon Ratcliff of Agentis Innovations, Thailand, presented “An Holistic Approach to Aqua Feedmill Automation and Moisture Control.”
The workshop was attended by 38 participants from different aquaculture feed mill and companies in the Philippines.
