Jim Sutter has served as CEO of the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) since 2011, leading a global team focused on attaining market access, differentiating, and elevating preference, for U.S. Soy in more than 90 countries worldwide.
Under Jim’s leadership, U.S. Soy has strengthened its position as a trusted, sustainable source of nutrition and energy worldwide, driving demand growth, market diversification, and strategic expansion to advance the international trade of U.S. soybeans.
Jim’s extensive background in food and agriculture provides him with a deep understanding of the global soy value chain. Prior to joining USSEC, Jim spent over three decades at Cargill, where he played a key role leading the company’s global oilseeds business, optimizing efficiencies, building market opportunities, and representing Cargill in international markets.
Jim is committed to advancing U.S. Soy’s role in global food security and sustainable agriculture. He actively collaborates with USSEC’s 100+ members and stakeholders, including U.S. soybean farmers, processors, commodity shippers, and food and agriculture organizations. He is the current Chair of the USDA/USTR Agricultural Policy Advisory Committee and past chair of the U.S. Agricultural Export Development Council.
