USSEC Appreciates United States–Bangladesh Reciprocal Trade Agreement
Chesterfield, MO: The U.S. Soybean Council (USSEC) expresses its deepest gratitude to the United States Trade Representative (USTR) for the newly signed reciprocal trade deal between the United States and Bangladesh. This move aims to increase market access for U.S. Soy in South Asia’s largest market for U.S. soybeans.
The agreement builds on the letters of intent signed in November last year by Bangladesh’s top soy value chain leaders to purchase $1.25 billion of U.S. Soy over the course of one year.
Bangladesh is a key market for U.S. Soy, with 1.13 million metric tons (MMT) of U.S. soybeans reported thus far in marketing year (MY) 2025/26.1
Preferred for its low damage and dryness, color and consistency, U.S. Soy remains a top choice for Bangladesh’s soybean processors and animal protein producers.
“For three decades, U.S. Soy has been collaborating with Bangladesh’s industry to build capacity, provide technical training, and foster relationships,” added Jim Sutter, USSEC CEO. “From skills-training programs like the Soy Excellence Center to trade missions and industry support, USSEC is committed to steering Bangladesh’s industry forward, rooted in trust and partnership.”
Bangladesh and the United States are long-standing trading partners, and this agreement will continue to mutually benefit both countries. U.S. soybeans continue to play a vital role in Bangladesh’s protein sector, providing high-quality, sustainable, nutritious feed ingredients that support the country’s growing poultry and aquaculture industries.
