USSEC Promotes High-Oleic Soy to Mexican Oil Refinery

USSEC recently met with staff at Coral International, a soybean oil refinery in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, that refines more than 14,000 metric tons of U.S. soy oil each year. Pedro Gonzalez and Tripp Fezler, USSEC contractors, met with Jorge Fernandez, production manager, to discuss the advantages of using U.S. soy to produce high-quality soy oil. The contractors conducted a seminar for the production and quality control staff, as well as managers, to present recent developments in the refining, degumming-neutralization, bleaching and deodorization of soy oil production process.
The contractors also provided suggestions on how to improve the quality of their refined, bleached and deodorized soy oil by updating bleaching and neutralization operations. Gonzalez explained the characteristics and benefits of the emerging high-oleic soy oil.
USSEC will continue to work with Juan Camou, general director of Coral, to evaluate and increase market opportunity for high-oleic soy oil in Mexico.
