USSEC participated in the Seafood Expo North America / Seafood Processing North America trade event from March 15-17 in Boston, Massachusetts. A team composed of USSEC staff, including Americas region consultant Jairo Amezquita, USSEC Southeast Asia Technical Director – Aquaculture Lukas Manomaitis, USSEC Aquaculture Marketing Manager Colby Sutter, soy growers, and aquaculture producers (customers of U.S. soy products) from various countries attended and participated with a booth promoting the use of U.S. soy products in aquaculture. The Seafood Expo North America / Seafood Processing North America, formerly known as the International Boston Seafood Show / Seafood Processing America, is the largest seafood trade event in North America. More than 19,000 buyers, suppliers, media, and other seafood professionals from over 100 countries attend the exposition.
During the trade show, USSEC consultants held several meetings with customers to discuss the increased consumption of U.S. soy products in their operations and also contacted prospects to develop other promotional aquaculture activities such as feeding demonstrations and technical assistance visits to their facilities. At least twelve serious business contacts were made during this event. These consultants also spoke to the many booth visitors about their concerns regarding the uses and applications of U.S. soy products in aquaculture. Technical literature on the use and benefits of U.S. soy products in aquaculture and promotional gifts were distributed to visitors of the USSEC booth.
Customers and prospects were interested in working with USSEC and participating in upcoming feeding demonstrations. Growers found this show to be very interesting and helpful in learning about market opportunities and future projects that will be developed in the aquaculture field in various regions.
