USSEC Meets with local IPRS Innovator in Northern Vietnam

USSEC’s Southeast Asia staff has been promoting the use of In Pond Raceway Systems (IPRS) in northern Vietnam. This technology has taken off in a big way due to collaboration with Cargill Vietnam. Some early adopters are already installing the most advanced systems, with automatic feeding systems.
USSEC visited one site where an improvement was on display. The system at VetViet Group had a novel approach to waste collection that allowed a more convenient way for the farmer to remove accumulated organic matter (uneaten food and fish waste).
USSEC plans to run a “gold standard” IPRS demonstration in northern Vietnam in FY17 and expects to see further local improvements that may help the industry overall.
