USSEC Hosts Soy Processing Roundtable Targeting Korean Crushing Industry and Broiler Integrators

USSEC hosted a soy processing roundtable targeting the Korean crushing industry and broiler integrators on August 22 and 23.  The meeting’s objective was to discuss the quality characteristics of soybean meal suitable for broiler production and the costs and benefits of marketing soybean meal on its amino acid content.  Roundtable attendees included CEOs and purchasing and technical staff of two crushing companies (CJ Cheiljedang Corp. and Sajo Haepyo Corp.); the Korea Soybean Processors Association; and four broiler integrators (Harim Co., Ltd., Dongwoo Co., Ltd., Easy Bio Co., Ltd. and Cherry Bro Co., Ltd.).
Participants discussed the nutritional attributes of soybean meal desired by the broiler integrator; how U.S. soybeans can help the Korean soybean crushing industry to respond to broiler integrators’ concerns over the feeding value of soybean meal; the metabolism of fatty acids; and the partnership shared among the Korean crushing and broiler integrators and the U.S. soy industry.
