USSEC North Asia led the first Hong Kong soybean purchasers’ team to the U.S. as a part of a North Asia regional effort to expand demand of U.S. soy in soy food applications in North Asia markets
The team consisted of one large food bean processor, Lee Kum Kee, and the largest importer of food grade soybeans, Billionfull International. USSEC Regional Director – North Asia Paul Burke escorted the delegation.
Following its attendance at the U.S. Soy Global Trade Exchange in Milwaukee, where the team met many U.S. food grade soybean suppliers, the delegation traveled to Ohio and Indiana to see how the U.S. identity preserved system works. Sites visited include Blue Grass Farms of Ohio, Delong, KG Agri Products, the University of Ohio and IOM Grains.
Currently, Canadian soybeans dominate the Hong Kong market, however, the USSEC North Asia region hopes for increased U.S. sales and soybean presence related to this team’s visit.
