USSEC Holds Country Meeting In Spain

USSEC held its Spain soy industry country meeting in Tarragona on September 14 for leading customers in feed and meat production. 40 percent of Spain’s total feed is produced in the regions of Aragon, North Valencia, and Catalonia. The three main producers: Vall, Nanta, and Corporación Agropecuaria de Guissona are all located in these regions.
USSEC collaborated with ASFAC and QUALIMAC, feed and quality associations, representing 90 percent of the market, in the planning of this meeting.
70 customers representing the feed and meat industries, as well as soybean meal importers and soy crushers, attended the meeting. In Catalonia, two crushing plants, owned by Cargill and Bunge, are located in the port at Barcelona.
Presentations included sustainability and production practices used by U.S. soybean farmers and continued discussion of the U.S. Soy Sustainability Assurance Protocol (SSAP). Other presentations focused on quality control, emphasizing the advantages of U.S. soybean meal.
