Turkish Poultry Industry Learns More About U.S. Soy’s Sustainability

In late April, Turkey’s poultry industry organized its biennial industry conference in Antalya. This conference is the Turkish poultry industry’s biggest event, boasting high sector participation with nearly all companies related to the poultry sector supporting and present.
This year, USSEC participated in the event as a bronze sponsor, providing a speaker to discuss sustainability. Dr. G. Matteo Cravetto also gave a presentation about sustainability at the EU/MENA regional buyers conference in Barcelona, Spain this year.
Dr. Matteo presented the importance of sustainability for animal production, food production, environment, and using resources efficiently and effectively. He also presented the U.S. Soy Sustainability Assurance Protocol (SSAP) and U.S. farmers’ efforts regarding this matter. He pointed out that there is no cost for the SSAP to buyers like the European Roundtable on Responsible Soy (RTRS) system.
Attendees showed great interest in Dr. Matteo’s sustainability presentation and he received many good questions afterwards. Sustainability is becoming more and more important each year in Turkey.
