USSEC took a group of fourteen young commercial nutritionists from Poland and Romania representing local feed compounders to Madrid, Spain, in mid-October where they spent a few days at the Polytechnical University of Madrid (UPM) attending a series of in-class training sessions run by three European experts on swine nutrition and feed science and feeding-related health problems.
USSEC Technical Director – Northeast Europe Jerzy Kosieradzki and USSEC Animal Utilization Consultant – Romania Iani Chihaia, who cover northeast and southeast European markets for U.S. soybean farmers, recruited the participants and helped coordinate this exclusive training course. USSEC consultants Professor Gonzalo Mateos (UPM), Dr. Domingo Carrion (PIC) and Dr. Enric Marco (Marcovetgrup), who are widely respected for their combination of cutting edge scientific and commercial expertise, gave a series of lectures to the participants.
For two days, the eastern European nutritionists toured Spanish swine breeding and production facilities, including a swine research farm, a leading international consulting firm specializing in swine nutrition and management, and a soybean and local legumes processing plant, as well as a leading regional cooperative which manufactures various swine feed products and supplies them to numerous independent farms in several Spanish provinces.
This weeklong professional experience offered to the team of USSEC’s European customers was highly evaluated by the participants.
Maciej Bendlewski, manager of swine feed products at DeHeus-Poland, said: “I am sure I will express the opinions of all the participants, when I say this training course was a great opportunity for us to update ourselves with the newest swine nutrition and soybean utilization knowledge which will help us do our jobs better. Please pass our appreciation to the U.S. soybean farmers and all persons who contributed to the success of this event.”
