Chip began his career in Chicago reporting from the floors of the Chicago Board of Trade and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as Bureau Chief for FWN. Chip served as the Editor of Pro Farmer Newsletter from 1997 to 2013 and has been the publisher since November 1999. He was named Editorial Director in 2014 and is responsible for the news, information and perspective delivered by Pro Farmer and still plays an active role in grain and livestock marketing advice to the 12,000-plus Pro Farmer Members
Chip is also the host of Farm Journal Media’s “Market Rally” radio program. Airing Monday-Friday after the markets close, the one-hour talk show focuses on ag commodity markets and risk-management strategies.
Growing up on a farm in the east-central Iowa community of Oxford Junction, Chip was very active in 4-H, an interest that he passed on to his kids Emily and Thomas. Chip and his wife Sue currently live in Denver (not the mile-high... the mile-wide Denver just north of Waterloo, Iowa).
