USSEC participated in Trade Talk 2014, which took place in Kansas City during the National Association of Farm Broadcasting (NAFB)’s 71st convention, “From Our Roots, Our Future Grows.”  Trade Talk, the centerpiece event of the NAFB’s national convention, gives participants access to member broadcasters to discuss the issues and topics that are important to their organizations.  More than 100 broadcasters circulate among participants during all or parts of the 6½ hours that Trade Talk is open.
USSEC Chair Laura Foell, along with USSEC CEO Jim Sutter and USSEC Communications Manager Lisa Pine, attended this year’s event.
According to Ms. Pine, Trade Talk provides an excellent opportunity for USSEC to spread the word about what it does on behalf of the U.S. soy family and about why international customers choose U.S. soy.  “This convention is a great chance for us to network with all kinds of people within the U.S. agriculture industry,” she said.
As a non-profit USSEC’s job is to ensure there are markets for soybeans produced.  In a taped interview, Chairman Foell states, “I think the future is going to be bright. I think we have markets and I think we have made those relationships that are important in trade. We have done a good job making sure our customers have the product to fit their needs.”
