USSEC Participates in Dairy Producers Congress in Costa Rica

USSEC recently participated in the Dairy Producers Congress in Costa Rica.  Consultant Carlos Campabadal traveled to Costa Rica for this event, which was attended by more than 450 dairy producers from Costa Rica and other Central American countries.

Mr. Campabadal lectured on the topic of “The Efficient Use of Dairy Feeds in a Dairy Production System.”  The objective of this presentation was to show dairy producers the importance of using high quality feeds made of corn and soybean meal, as well as the importance of having good forage programs.  Mr. Campabadal also demonstrated the problems of using high levels of dried distiller grains with solubles (DDGS) in dairy diets and its effect in milk production, milk quality and cow’s reproduction to producers.  The consultant also met with several dairy producers, discussing different dairy management and nutrition topics such as the use of soybean meal in calf, heifer and lactating cows’ diets; the use of silage in dairy feeding systems; forage nutrient content; problems of DDGS in dairy diets; and soybean meal levels in dairy diets, along with other nutrition topics.
