USSEC Hosts 2016 QSSB Mission to ASC

USSEC hosted the 2016 qualified state soybean board (QSSB) mission to the Asia Subcontinent (ASC) from July 29 through August 6. The mission included activities in Colombo, Sri Lanka; Kolkata, India; and Delhi, India.
Attendees from the following state boards included: Anthony Stafford (staff, Missouri); Daniel Corcoran (grower and United Soybean Board [USB] director, Ohio); Matthew Gast (grower, North Dakota); Michael Bellar (grower, Kansas); Iowa representatives Karey Claghorn (staff), Wayne Fredericks (grower, American Soybean Association [ASA] director, and chair of ISA), and Rolland Schnell (grower); Tennessee representatives Parks Wells (staff) and Kenneth Moore (grower); Michigan representatives Kathleen Maurer (staff)
and Matthew Stutzman (ASA director and grower); and Indiana representatives James Douglas (grower) and Edward Ebert (staff).
USSEC Stakeholder Relations Manager Will McNair, Communications Manager Lisa Humphreys, Deputy Regional Director - ASC Vijay Anand, and Country Manager – India Gopal Pillai escorted the QSSB delegates on this mission. Local USSEC consultants hosted the team in their respective markets.
The delegation participated in meetings and activities to bring greater understanding to the differences and similarities between the markets in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India.
