USSEC Continues Soy-Based Diet Feeding Trials with Cobia and Shrimp

USSEC recently held meetings with shrimp and cobia farmers in Panama and Colombia to discuss current feeding demonstrations.
These demonstrations include high protein soybean meal SG-3010 developed by Schillinger Genetics, traditional soybean meal and soy protein concentrate. Jairo Amezquita, USSEC specialist, visited cobia producer Antillana in Cartagena, Colombia. He also visited Camaronera de Cocle, S.A. in Panama to evaluate the use of soy-based feed in shrimp production. The company noted the increased performance of the shrimp during the current production cycle in regards to the average growth rate and expected survival rate as compared to the same period during the 2011 feed demonstration.
