USSEC consultant Jairo Amezquita and a team of tilapia growers from the Americas Region recently attended the 2013 Worldwide Tilapia Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  These tilapia growers are users of U.S. soy products.  Approximately 400 people from several countries attended this event, which provided participants with an excellent opportunity to discuss current market trends and tilapia production worldwide as well as a chance to meet with customers to explore opportunities to increase consumption of U.S. soy products in their operations.  Mr. Amezquita met with eight tilapia producers to discuss the latest advances in the use of U.S. soybean products in aquaculture nutrition; opportunities to continue providing assistance to the tilapia industry; the current situation at their farms; and the future of tilapia production and markets.
